Guests are invited to come to a party on Friday, Feb. 13 with on stipulation. They are asked to sign the contract attached to their invitation and release their videotaped image for use in the project. In collaboration with gallery staff, volunteers, a professional party-planner and some local DJs, the stage is set and more than 300 people attend the party and participate in the project. Three cameras track the evening unfolding from set up to closing from three vantage points. Party-goers mingle, drink and dance and see live footage throughout the evening.
Twenty-four hours of video documentation (8 hours from each camera) is gathered and presented in one hour segments on eight monitors. Mounted in a false wall in the center of the gallery, monitors allow viewers to move from hour to hour of the party and self-edit the epic surveillance of the night.
